><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prof. Dr. Joaqu\u00edn Silvestre-Albero recibi\u00f3 su Titulo de Licenciado en Qu\u00edmica en el a\u00f1o 1998 por la Universidad de Alicante. A continuaci\u00f3n realiz\u00f3 estudios de Doctorado en la citada universidad en el \u00e1rea de &#8220;Materiales Porosos&#8221;, consiguiendo el t\u00edtulo de Doctor en Qu\u00edmica en el a\u00f1o 2003. A continuaci\u00f3n curso estudios post-doctorales en el Instituto de Tecnolog\u00eda Qu\u00edmica de Valencia bajo la direcci\u00f3n del Prof. Avelino Corma y, posteriormente, en el Instituto Fritz-Haber de Berl\u00edn bajo la direcci\u00f3n del Prof. Hans-Joachim Freund. Actualmente es Catedr\u00e1tico de Qu\u00edmica Inorg\u00e1nica en la Universidad de Alicante. Desde el punto de vista cient\u00edfico, el Prof. Silvestre-Albero tiene m\u00e1s de 170 publicaciones en revistas internacionales de alto \u00edndice de impacto con un \u00edndice h=45. Actualmente es coordinador de varios proyectos tanto nacionales como internacionales. Su \u00e1rea de investigaci\u00f3n engloba el dise\u00f1o y caracterizaci\u00f3n de s\u00f3lidos porosos y su aplicaci\u00f3n en procesos de adsorci\u00f3n, separaci\u00f3n de gases, fotocat\u00e1lisis y nanomedicina. Dentro de los materiales con porosidad dise\u00f1ada, el Prof. Silvestre-Albero se ha especializado en materiales de carb\u00f3n activado y materiales metal-org\u00e1nicos (MOFs), con especial inter\u00e9s en aprovechar los efectos estructurales (p.ej. procesos de respiraci\u00f3n) y de confinamiento para promover procesos qu\u00edmicos impedidos cin\u00e9ticamente en condiciones normales itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ana Sofia Mestre (ASM), received her degree in Chemistry (2003) from the Faculty of Sciences of Lisbon University (FCUL) and completed her PhD in Technological Chemistry in 2010 from the same institution. Currently she is an Assistant Researcher at FCUL and principal investigator of EMPOWER+ project. Her work has been mainly focused on the development of carbon materials exploring renewable resources and synthesis routes. The materials have been tested for the removal of pharmaceutical compounds, aiming to identify the property\/performance relations. From 2016 to 2019 ASM integrated the team of LIFE Impetus project distinguished with the PT Global Water Award 2019 in I+D+I due to the results with high &#8220;Technology Readiness Levels&#8221; and the Wex 2019 Global Award for \u201cInnovation in Technology\u201d for the environmental-friendly production of novel activated carbons from pine nut residues and their application for enhanced removal of pharmaceutical compounds in urban wastewater treatment plants. He is affiliated to the AMPM and KCC centers. Before joining KAUST, he was working in as Senior Scientist in SINTEF Industry in Oslo (Norway) for 10 years. He has a PhD from Porto University in Portugal (2005) where he also worked for 5 years as a Research Assistant. He graduated as Chemical Engineer in South University in Argentina (1998). He works with process intensification applied to separation and reaction processes with strong focus on adsorption and novel manufacturing techniques like 3D printing.
